The Appetite to Play initiative was developed by Child Health BC, YMCA of Greater Vancouver, Childhood Healthy Living Foundation and Sport for Life Society. The initiative supports Healthy Families BC, the government’s health prevention and promotion strategy that focuses on leadership and health improvement for British Columbian families and their communities.
The Healthy Beginnings for Preschoolers 2-5 program toolkit was used as a model and base approach to developing this Appetite to Play for British Columbia. Healthy Beginnings was developed by the Collaborative Action on Childhood Obesity Phase 2 (CACO 2) under the Coalitions Linking Action and Science for Prevention (CLASP) initiative. This toolkit was made possible through a financial contribution from Health Canada through the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. Thank you to the Childhood Healthy Living Foundation and the CACO 2 partners for collaborating with us to incorporate aspects of the Healthy Beginnings Toolkit into this resource.
LEAP BC™ is a set of resources (Food Flair, HOP and MOVE) that promotes healthy child development and was created by 2010 Legacies Now, with support from the Province of British Columbia. We would like to acknowledge the cooperation and collaboration with Decoda Literacy Solutions in providing permission for content from LEAP BC™ materials to be incorporated into the ATP resource.
We would like to thank all those who have contributed to the development of the Appetite to Play initiative including:
- The Appetite to Play Advisory Committee
- The Appetite to Play Working Group
- Early Years and Health Care Providers who contributed to market research surveys and focus groups
