Appetite to Play for Families: Facilitator Training

Training to deliver workshops on Physical Activity and Food & Feeding to families in your communities

What you will learn

Evidence based knowledge and best practices for bringing information about physical activity and food & feeding to parents in a culturally-sensitive, trauma informed manner.

In this training, you will receive a toolkit of 6 - 20 minute workshops and a suite of handouts and supporting information and how to bring this content to parents.

At the end of training, you are welcome to use the information and tools provided in community-based group supports, as well as 1:1 in-home consultations.

The full program will take 4 to 6 hours to complete.

Who should take this training

This course is useful for anyone who works with parents and caregivers of children 0-6 years of age in creating healthy eating and physical activity opportunities for children....that we call Community Facilitators.

  • You may be a healthcare or health promotion provider such as public health nurses or primary care providers.
  • Your may run programs for parents such as baby & me, parent & tot programs or parent groups.
  • You may provide outreach programs or home visits for families who need some extra support.

Profession development certificate

A Professional Development certificate will be provided for anyone who takes the full course.

How to access the training

  • Click on the 'Click here' button below and you will be taken to the e-learning platform Thinkific, which houses the training.
  • Once you are on the Thinkific main page, click on Sign In, where you will be asked to add your email and create a password to create an account.
  • You will have unlimited access to the training so you can work on the modules at your convenience. 
  • The training modules are number 1 to 4 and need to be completed in that order to finish the training.  For example, you must complete module 1 before continuing to module 2, and so on.
