How to Play
  1. Hide red and white candy canes (real or plastic) in the snow.
  2. Have children work together to find as many as they can.
  3. Encourage children to bring back one candy cane at a time until they have all been found.
Change it up / Alternatives / Additional Options
  • Children can work in partners to find the candy canes.
  • Time the children to see how long it takes them to find all of the candy canes. Play again and encourage the children to beat their previous time.
  • For a child with a visual impairment, provide an object that makes noise (for example a rattle or bell) and have a leader stand by the candy canes to make the noise.

This activity aims to build the fundamental movement skills of locomotion and balance.
