How to Play

One person lays down and closes their eyes in the middle of the playing space (this can be an adult until the kids understand the activity, then they can have a turn). While the person in the middle is lying down, the rest of the group chants:

Little (NAME)’s sleeping on the ground.
Sh! Sh! Sh!
We must move quietly and make no sound.
Sh! Sh! Sh!

Once the rhyme is finished, the group move around quietly. If the person in the middle wakes up, everyone needs to sit down as fast as they can.

Change it up / Alternatives / Additional Options

-    To enhance understanding for all participants, exaggerate the waking up motions for a visual cue.
-    If you have someone who has a gross motor limitation or uses a wheelchair, you can change the sitting down element to stopping.
-    To challenge people, have them stop while balancing on one foot.
