How to Play

Set up equipment for the 4 nursery rhyme activity stations. Children move around exploring the stations in the circuit, doing the various activities.

Jack Be Nimble: Children jump horizontally over the candlesticks (tape or rope on the floor)

Humpty Dumpty: Children step up on to a small step and jump off.

Wee Willie Winkie: Children step up and down stairs or step up and down on an object

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star: Children jump vertically up and touch stars taped to the wall.

The Grand Old Duke of York: Children squat down low when the men are down and stand up tall on their tip toes when they are up.

 

Change it up / Alternatives / Additional Options

For children with impairments in flexibility or gross motor skills, encourage them to perform the movements as much as they can, understanding that it may look different to others.

-        If you have a participant who uses a wheelchair, be intentional around the movements that you select to allow them to participate.

-        For children who are deaf or hard of hearing, act out the actions or provide pictures of the intended movements

-        If you have a child with another type of disability not mentioned above, they may be able to participate in this activity without adaptations or modifications
