How to Play
  1. Make a snow castle! Use regular sand buckets to create a magnificent castle of snow and ice.
  2. Designate one area for collecting the snow in the buckets and another area for building to encourage movement from one space to another.
Change it up / Alternatives / Additional Options
  • Turn the game in to a relay race and challenge the kids to build the tallest, longest, most colourful castle!
  • For a child with a disability that limits their locomotor skills, provide a larger bucket for them to scoop in to, and provide support for carrying.
  • For a child that may be sensitive to the texture of the snow, make sure to have other options available for them to build with, such as bean bags, blocks and cones.
  • For a child with a visual impairment, provide a large, visible space for them with a textured boundary around the edge of the play space, such as a rope or cones.
Notes

This activity works to develop the fundamental movement skills of: running (locomotion), balance, and coordination.
