Apple Crisp
There’s nothing like the smell of an apple crisp or crumble baking in the oven on a cool day. If you can, pick your own apples or find some local ones at the market. Here in British Columbia, we produce an average of 80,000 tonnes of apples each year, predominantly in the Okanagan, and there are so many delicious varieties to try.
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Combine cubed apples in the baking dish with 1 tsp cinnamon and tapioca or corn starch.
3. Mix remaining ingredients in mixing bowl—it can help to use your clean hands to mix in the butter—a great job for kids! Spread topping evenly over apples.
4. Bake for 30-40 minutes until apples are soft and bubbling and topping is crisp. Allow to cool slightly then serve with plain yogurt if desired.
