How to Play

Select some music that the children like and is easy to dance to. Start by performing dance moves yourself and asking the children to copy your moves. After your turn, ask the children if any of them would like a turn at the front of the group and all the other children will copy their moves. Keep each choreography time to about 20 seconds. Keep asking if any more children would like to have a turn until all children that would like an opportunity have participated.

  • If you have a child who uses a wheelchair, encourage the children to include arm movements in their routine. Alternatively, if there are leg movements involved and the individual who uses a wheelchair cannot perform these moves, have them do the same moves with their arms.
  • If you have someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, try and pick music with heavy bass beats such as hip-hop or jazz. Additionally, beating a drum to the rhythm of the music can assist in children finding the tempo of the song.
  • If you have someone who has a visual impairment, provide audible and physical guidance. For example, if the choreography starts jumping and spinning, you can shout that out to everyone so the child with a visual impairment can also participate.
