Pear & Cranberry Crumble
Pears are a late summer/early fall harvest here in British Columbia and are an amazing alternative to apples in hearty and wholesome desserts and baking. Kids can get involved in this recipe by mixing up and sprinkling the crumble topping over the pears. Serve with a dollop of plain yogurt if desired.
1. Preheat oven to 400F and lightly grease the baking dish. Add the chopped pear, 1 Tbsp sugar, lemon juice and cranberries and toss gently to combine. Spread in an even layer.
2. In the bowl, mix all remaining ingredients, working the butter into the flour until crumbly. This is easiest to do with clean hands and fun for kids!
3. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the pears. Bake for approximately 40 minutes until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden. Serve warm with yogurt if desired.
